High school merger idea gets punted
Barre Montpelier Times Argus – Jan 16, 2007
“However one single play by one amazing young gal paid me many times over for the price of admission. With the game tied and about a minute on the clock the ferocious Solon guard Jenn Ruda hounded a Randolph girl so mercilessly that I swear the poor gal coughed up the ball just to be rid of Ruda. Now with ball Ruda dashed across half court to her basket only to suddenly trip and launch into a break dance featuring a 20-foot long stumbling sliding constantly dribbling move that only ended for the exhausted Ruda when her coach mercifully screamed “Time out!”Ruda’s brazen steal and break dance to keep the ball alive turned out to be a sparkling key to the otherwise un-sparkling win. Barre’s industrialstrength menTwo days before the aforementioned girl’s game I found myself at the other end of the scoring spectrum. It was another rowdy late night at the Spaulding High School gym home of the re-born Barre Men’s Industrial Basketball League. (Is that a cool name or what? If only we had smokestacks to validate the name. )I was enticed by a buddy Jim Kiefer who plays for the high-flying Julio’s Cantina team to forgo an early start on my beauty sleep and catch the 9 pm game between 7-1 Julio’s and the 3-5 XXX.

He also finds most of these achievements to get into record books of “no value to the society”. “What is this whole business of getting into a book which is known for including feats like growing the longest moustache?” he asks. But this is not deterring the youngsters of Indore from trying to break records. Nine-year old Simran Bharti for example has concluded her non-stop dance performance to the tunes of 61 Hindi chart-busters. And a high school student is planning to do a 91-hour marathon dance to out-perform Aditi Gupta.

The Canadian Conference of the Arts urged the government to include a variety of arts activities including music theatre and visual arts in the tax credit. “This particular initiative is targeted to alleviating the growing concern about childhood obesity and wanting encourage physical activity” Ablonsczy said. “There may be other programs down the road for development of children but this one is particularly for physical activity… ” A three-person panel came up with the definition of an eligible activity for the credit. You call that a power move sport? Weak weak play Turd Blossom. Your monkey is once again dancing the wrong dance to the wrong tune. You call that a power move sport? Weak weak play Turd Blossom. Your monkey is once again dancing the wrong dance to the wrong tune. By fool_superior | Jan 16 2007 12:59:56 AM |… Id begin by cutting every single tax break for the richest of the rich immediately. Bush will accuse the Dems of slicing into the economic good times but I would approach it with pitch forks and torches:hey! The rest of us have all felt the pinch! The War has been run on borrowed money! The Democrats propose to tax the richest of the rich back to where they were when Bush came in. and inherited a budget surplus.

I was at that game covering it for Sports Illustrated. I bet I talked to eight Chargers after the game and none of them trash-talked the Patriots. I remember walking out of Gillette that day thinking the players were almost honored to beat the Patriots and break their long home-field win streak. "I’ll probably believe it when I wake up in the morning” tackle Roman ben said. "I wish I could have watched this game from the stands. We give up no sacks rush for 183 against the Patriots.
