Q: How did you get into break dancing while living in FortCollins? It’s not exactly known as a hip-hop mecca. I was in a dance program at CSU and a fewgirls picked up that I was more a hip-hop girl and they knew a greatplace in Boulder that specialized in hip-hop styles. That’s where I metmy first break-dancing mentor. Then there was an event calledElemental Flavors (in Denver) and that’s where I first saw B-girls -really sick B-girls who had come out from Seattle Japan all over theworld… I was in a dance program at CSU and a fewgirls picked up that I was more a hip-hop girl and they knew a greatplace in Boulder that specialized in hip-hop styles. USA Today – Jun 20, 2007
Shifting gears: Huey started making beats when he was 15 but he didn’t take writing rhymes seriously until he hooked up with manager Angela Richardson who helped him gain a toehold in St. That’s how he got heard by TJ Chapman CE of TJ’s DJ’s a network of DJs who break new music in the clubs and streets before it hits radio. Chapman brought him to the attention of Jive executive Mickey “MeMpHiTz” Wright who signed him to his HiTz Committee imprint. “Everybody kept saying that I should be doing this for a living” Huey says. Staying on the grind: The album came together so fast Huey didn’t have time to make beats for the project.

Piersthinks he sounds like a beached whale and Hoff calls his voice “froggy. ” For onceI agree with Hoff. A few more losers pass by including a group who dance withsnakes and Zaypar who is more alien than human. Luigi (Boy Shakira) imitates his idol and is up next. Homophobic Hoffbuzzes him immediately. How fun is this! Except for the excess poundage he isreally not all that bad. Sharon and Piers agree and pass him to the next round… Hoff huffs and retreats to his dressing room. I suspect Luigi will be showing upon YouTube if he isn’t already there. After the break Hoff comes back out and is ready to “play. ” Coolaid andhis clownettes do some breaking to “Get Buff With It” and although they areadmirable they slide around on that slippery floor a bit too much. Hoff is stillholding a grudge and appears a bit um er sloshed testy. Cas Haley performs “Walking on the Moon” and Hoff loudly and rudelycalls out “Wow” in the middle of his tune.
