Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe were joined this week by Mia Michaels. After the judges chatted about Ricky leaving last week (Hey what about Ashlee?) Cat informed us that each of the dancers were going to tell us who or what inspired them to dance. Lauren and Neil were announced as the first couple dancing. Lauren was made to do something girly since she was such a tomboy so she tried dance and loved it. Neil wanted to spend more time with his preschool buddy Megan so he started taking dance with her. Dave Scott choreographed a Hip Hop routine to “The Way I Are” by Timberland featuring Keri Hilson. It was cute but seemed kinda safe to me… The ladies thought Jesus was amazing and Sara was “eh” but Nigel felt it was stylized and very out of the box. After a review of the numbers we were treated to watching all the dancers’ freestyle once again as the show went off. Beanstalker’s Random thoughts:I was completely impressed at how the break dancers have stepped up to the routines. Dominic Hok and Sara have really done well with their partners as well as the routines that they have drawn. Sara did a great job dancing in those heels since this is something she is not use to. I do think this is the best group of dancers that they have had on the show. There will be a good couple in the bottom three tomorrow night.

San Francisco Chronicle – Jun 21, 2007
This doesn’t mean she’s not sincere when she rhapsodizes over the charms of the Bay Area or gushes about how amazed she is to be a star and how grateful she is to her fans for helping her become one. It simply means she’s gone so far into the star-making machinery she’s forgotten how to convey that sincerity in anything besides packaged sound bites. For the opening 45 minutes of her set Stefani backed by a six-piece band her break-dancing Harajuku Girls and a posse of B-boys was strictly in slave drive to the prerecorded choreography: The lame skits and superfluous costuming; the green-dollar confetti that descended during “Rich Girl” with its riff on “Fiddler on the Roof”; the sexy hostess-with-the-mostest ensembles for the big-thumping dance number “Yummy. ” Then there was the requisite local anecdote to open the power ballad “4 in the Morning:” “I practically am from San Francisco!” Stefani enthused. “range County and San Francisco are basically the same to me. I’ve spent so much time here I can’t tell the difference!”range County and San Francisco: Separated at birth thanks to Gwen Stefani.

Kahn Below: Leda Lim. Photo by John Gilhooley This is Aboul-Hosn’s advanced Thursday night pole- and exotic-dance class. With slow bass-heavy music playing in the background Aboul-Hosn twists herself up then upside-down flipping up her skirt and flashing teeny pink lace shorts. The girls clap and smile. “We’re all shapes all sizes” one of Edith’s students a college adviser says. “I don’t talk negatively about myself anymore… She’s just returned from a short stretch in her former hometown of Phoenix Arizona where she contemplated whether to move forward with a lawsuit she filed in January. Before going to Arizona earlier this year she was living with her fianc?n Laguna Beach. Her pursuit of the lawsuit has strained their relationship Lim says; although they still talk they’ve taken a “break” she says. The lawsuit alleged that Aboul-Hosn breached their contractual business-partnership agreement by cutting her out of the deal and running off with Lim’s concept. Lim was seeking $5 million in damages according to court records. The court papers were never served however and the case was dismissed in May because Lim never appeared in court. Lim says she was reluctant to go forward but after weeks of contemplation she returned to range County last week with plans to re-file and move forward with the suit next week.
So You Think You Can Dance: Week 2
TV Squad – Jun 21, 2007
Mary praised Jessi for her movement and Pasha for his partnering skills. Nigel agreed with them and praised the choreography. Song – “Stiff Jazz” by Zihan and KamienJaimie and Hok – I thought they caught a bit of a break by drawing hip hop in week one. It’s always a little easier when one of the partners draws their particular style so it was interesting to see what would happen when they got the samba with Jean Marc Genereux. I thought Jaimie was excellent here. Hok held his own but I think we are starting to get glimpses of what might develop into a problem later in the competition. He danced well but it’s just not as polished as some of the other dancers… She said there were some good bits but it was not a proper samba. Nigel thought it was a great performance but agreed with Mary about the technical difficulties. He said he would prefer to see a samba like you would see on Dancing With The Stars which drew an eyebrow raise from Jean Marc. Song – “Bang Bang To The Rock ‘n’ Roll” by GabinSabra and Dominic – These two were under the gun a bit this week after being in the bottom three last week. They went to see Mandy Moore to learn a contemporary piece. It was an interesting performance although I think the editors blew the big stunt by showing it in the practice package. Sabra could do with a bit more personality but she does dance very well.
