She stormed into a dinner party being held by the Duke of Wellington and made a scene over Lord Byron whom she badly wanted back – but he was having none of it. So she then cut off her pubic hairs and sent them to Byron in a letter. This might have contributed to the irreversible break-up in their relationship so perhaps not advisable. It brought them back together. Do a dance at a concert you’ve organised Prince William’s courtship of Kate Middleton included some fine dancing on the night of last month’s Concert for Diana. But think about it: You go into a 10-year tailspin because of a pirouette? How weak is that? It’s a good thing Bonds didn’t launch a full-scale breakdance; the team might have folded right there on the spot. Everything about the Dodgers seems inadequate right now. Jason Schmidt is lost for the year lefthander Randy Wolf (shoulder) most likely to join him. GM Ned Colletti did nothing at the trading deadline but bring in a relief pitcher Scott Proctor the Yankees couldn’t wait to unload. Jeff Kent strained a hamstring sliding headfirst into first base which is his habit which makes him a complete idiot every time he tries it and let’s have some thunderous applause for his misery… Does this have anything to do with baseball? or are you yet another LA person who moved to the Bay Area and became a born again Bay Area LA hater?Give it a rest because it’s tiring. Posted By: wagonmonster | August 01 2007 at 11:18 AMEverything about the Dodgers “these days” is repulsive? How about everything about everything the Dodgers have ever stood for as repulsive? I too read the Bill Plaschke column the writer referred to and I had the same take. A pirouette – as in a dance spin-and-jump – brought down the organization and team? Having not quite been able to grasp that concept I read the same Bill Plaschke’s rant today. He totally mis-called the vibe last night and called the home-run chase the “misery laden trudge. ” While I am delighted we in the North of our state can induce such astonishing gloom from the Dodger-idiot-fanbase down South it’s no fun if their gloom makes no sense and they sound.

Throughout his career comprising 43 films 32 of which he wrote himself it is hard to identify a happy union. Exception perhaps could be made for the peasants Jof and Mia in The Seventh Seal (1957) but to a degree they are merely symbolic figures representing Joseph and Mary. In film after film Bergman put the knife into matrimony culminating in the harrowing Scenes from a Marriage (1973) shot originally for television but subsequently condensed into a shorter (but still exceptionally long) 168-minute version for cinemas. This and its companion piece Face to Face (1976) also made initially for television in which Liv Ullmann and Erland Josephson again strip each other emotionally bare are among the most depressing works in modern cinema. Alongside marriage religion was for many years a leading topic on Bergman’s agenda. Born into an ecclesiastical family it was a subject he could not easily ignore. Though he rejected his father’s faith from a young age Bergman was nevertheless haunted by thoughts of sin damnation and eternal punishment… During this period he also made two documentaries about the island of Fårö where he lived and an unsuccessful international co-production in English The Touch (1971) starring the American actor Elliott Gould. Bergman and Liv Ullmann’s later films together were shot abroad thanks to an unfortunate incident that took place in 1976. While rehearsing Strindberg’s Dance of Death at Stockholm’s Royal Dramatic Theatre he was arrested by two plainclothes policemen booked as a criminal and charged with tax evasion. It brought on a nervous breakdown and he vowed never to work in Sweden again. Thus The Serpent’s Egg was shot in Munich and Autumn Sonata in slo. nly after two years in exile did the Swedish tax authorities withdraw the charges paving the way for Bergman’s return to his native land. To mark the occasion the Swedish Film Institute set up a prize in his name to be awarded annually for distinction in film-making.
