(He’d kick his addiction in prison. ) Yet he craved acceptance and his daredevil stunts in break dance ? an improvisational street ballet of jerky moves and acrobatics ? earned him accolades. In one face-off Tuy reminisces he even bested “Pose” the neighborhood’s finest “breaker. Today there is another “Pose” in Tuy’s life ? a bashful diminutive AIDS orphan with delicate features and dyed hair. Inspired by TV clips of foreign break dancers the 13-year-old HIV-positive boy and his friends approached Tuy to teach them. The “American” brushed them off; but they persisted… ” So can orphans. Tuy holds regular dance classes in a Phnom Penh orphanage where the youngest “b-boy” a 2-year-old is already an avid spinner. “n the surface it’s only break dance but all these kids need is someone to motivate them” says Dara Chan a Khmer-American student from Michigan volunteering at Tiny Toones. “KK is very charismatic and the way he plays he has the heart of a 10-year-old” adds Mr. “Kids like to jump on his back and play with him all day. He’s like a big brother to them.

Vincent Pastore who played a tough-guy mobster in the early years of “The Sopranos” dropped out on last season’s show in February after a week of training. “I didn’t realize just how physically demanding it would be for me. Unable to put forth my best effort I felt it appropriate to step aside and give someone else the opportunity” Pastore 60 said at the time. His replacement was John Ratzenberger of “Cheers.

Three have already appeared in the United States and the latest is LDTX which presented the North American premiere of “The Cold Dagger” on Friday night at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College. It’s hard to know how LDTX is different from the Beijing Modern Dance Company which Mr. Tsao brought to New York in 2005: Most of the 14 dancers appear to have come from that troupe and they constitute the same kind of sleek well-trained ensemble adept at a fairly conventional mix of modern-dance styles. “The Cold Dagger” a 70-minute work choreographed by Li Hanzhong and Ma Bo is a dull vehicle for their talents… Ma find a choreographic means of evoking their narrative themes. For the rest they offer devices (their skirts used like bull-fighting capes; their skirts removed and laid in a line; a man whirling a ribbon through the air) as the impetus for the movement as section after section arrives with predictable evenness each feeling slower and slightly more fraught than the last. At the end the dancers disappear under the floor covering and break through the squares creating a sculptural landscape of jagged forms. It’s a nice image but it’s the only breakthrough in sight.

For example we were at a wedding last weekend for a mutual friend who was nice enough to provide an open bar. A few hours into the wedding (and the open bar) I was absolutely positive that I could have any woman in the room especially after my rendition of Soulja Boy’s “Crank Dat” dance! Now don’t get the wrong idea about me I would never actually pursue one of these women but I was positive that they were all checking me out and it was nice to know that I hadn’t lost my game. As I slid off the dance floor and began to gloat about all the ladies with their eyes on me my wonderful pregnant wife proceeded to tell me that not only were they not checking me out but that I had “Cranked Dat” during the couple’s first dance… For example we were at a wedding last weekend for a mutual friend who was nice enough to provide an open bar. I wish I remembered more about the situation because my wife could have made up the whole thing (I’m pretty sure she’s just jealous) but she may be right because I was tackled and escorted to my vehicle pretty early in the evening. The hardest part about dealing with a hormone-crazed wife is the mood swings! ne minute she’s ‘in the mood’ and the next she’s crying and asking me why I am “forcing her to do something she just doesn’t want to do. ” I still don’t understand it. She’s the one who lit the candles and threw rose petals all over the bed so was I crazy to think that I might be getting some? And Diary can you also tell me why I ended up on the road at midnight to get 10 chicken nuggets an egg roll and a jar of sliced dill pickles? Honestly it was either I get the food or spend my entire night listening to a pregnant woman cry about how I don’t love her I am unappreciative of the fact that she’s having my child or my personal favorite – I just hate her.
