Can Britney Spears’ ‘Blackout’ break through all her bad…
International Herald Tribune – Oct 29, 2007
But despite her litany of woes “Blackout” due out Tuesday may be the one positive note in an otherwise dreadful year. So far it has earned her a Top 10 single (with “Gimme More”) and some of the best reviews she has had in ages. Could “Blackout” be the break Britney needs? Industry insiders fans and some critics are saying “yes. ” Today in Culture… People are curious because they know what a train wreck she's been. ” It may help Spears that her club-friendly sound appeals to an older audience rather than the teens and tweens she originally courted says Geoff Mayfield Billboard's senior analyst and director of charts: “If kids were still a huge part of her album base the nefarious publicity would be more troublesome. ” “Blackout” features 12 thumping dance tracks crafted by top pop and hip-hop producers including Bloodshy & Avant (who produced Spears' 2004 Grammy-winning hit “Toxic”) and Danja the beatmaster behind Spears' single “Gimme More.

ther girls wore T-shirts over their dresses. Administrators interrupted the dancing when students got too close for adult comfort. “Everything is happening so quick. The championship is over the dancing started and basically I was like ‘Ali let’s take it easy. therwise we will be divorced before we get married!’”Castroneves added the ceremony will “hopefully” occur in January because if it’s delayed much longer than that it will have to wait another full year due to the start of the IndyCar Series 2008 season in March. “Now it’s becoming ‘Let’s take it easy. Let’s take a break’” he told Entertainment Tonight. “Because I know after all this rush it would be a little bit too much… therwise we will be divorced before we get married!’”Castroneves added the ceremony will “hopefully” occur in January because if it’s delayed much longer than that it will have to wait another full year due to the start of the IndyCar Series 2008 season in March. “Now it’s becoming ‘Let’s take it easy. There is a bright spot to postponing the wedding as Castroneves said he’s found the perfect dance instructor in Hough. “She’s probably going to be teaching my fiancee to dance” he told Entertainment Tonight.
Reality TV: Cuban can’t samba
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette – Pittsburgh Post Gazette – Oct 29, 2007
htm –>Reality TV: Cuban can’t sambaMonday ctober 29 2007By Kara A. Medalis Stamford AdvocateMark Cuban sambas his way out of the competition this week on “Dancing with the Stars. ” The 49-year-old billionaire offers an entertaining “I Dream of Jeannie”-inspired samba with professional partner Kym Johnson but they earn just a 21 from the judges. They get the lowest score along with Marie smond but since she passes out on live television we all know she’s going to get the viewer votes this week. Jane Seymour and Tony Dovolani earn a 26 and join Mark and Kym in the bottom two. Mark’s run was fun while it lasted… I disagree – I think their chemistry is great. Finally I admit it was scary watching Marie’s fall live on national television. Kudos to ABC for quickly cutting to commercial break. n “Good Morning America” Wednesday Marie said allergies and bad air are the blame for her fainting spell. I just hope she remembers to breathe on next week’s show. “Dancing with the Stars” airs Monday at 8 p.
Ka Leo Hawaii
The University of Hawaii Kaleo – Oct 29, 2007
As chair and director of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s dance program Gregg Lizenbery is expected to solve the many problems that arise from the antiquated dance facilities on lower campus. However he cannot do much without funding from Legislators. “Nobody has died and that is a good thing” Lizenbery said jokingly but many students have suffered due to deteriorating facilities. The dance department has conducted several campaigns to influence the state’s legislative powers and helped to pass a bill that funds plans for a new facility. “We’ve been told no for over 20 years so to actually get the funding for blueprints is a big deal” said teacher and lobbyist Chansri Green… Although the department’s efforts are great they can hardly console students who have suffered injuries due to the ruinous state of the facilities. Extensive termite damage beneath one of the floors caused its surface to become springier than usual. “We’ve had three dancers in three years break their ankles because the floor gave too much and they were not prepared for that” Green said. Rats and lizards inhabit the buildings leaving behind feces and germs. Dancers must lie and roll on what one student described as “a dropping-smeared floor. ” Lizenbery is concerned with complaints concerning “general health issues like getting eye infections or a staph infection that won’t go away. The infestations in the buildings make cleaning animal droppings a never-ending battle.
Quarter life crisis: Scouting the bar scene in Towson
Towerlight – Oct 29, 2007
Last year I likely put on 10 to 12 pounds over that month and a half stretch and it took me until April to work it back off. Turkey Day is only four weeks away so now’s the time to start getting into game shape for the holiday season. You can worry about looking good for spring break later; that’s what we have “Gym Rat” for right? Now I’m aware that many of my readers are wily veterans when it comes to local nightlife but for those transfer students recently-turned 21-year olds and other York Road rookies I’ve decided to give you a little scouting report. So without further ado here are my Towson bar scene power rankings for fall and winter:5. The Greene Turtle – I’m not a big fan of the Greene Turtle and its crowded dance floor late at night but with good food and reasonable specials it’s a great place to go for Happy Hour. Padonia Station – Cockeysville’s finest bar reminds me a lot of Pittsburgh – I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing – with its eclectic crowd and its deer hunting video games but Padonia Station is a nice change of pace if you feel like people-watching or dancing with a 29-year old transvestite (don’t ask)… Rec Room – Nothing can beat Wednesday nights at the Rec Room. There’s no better way to celebrate the conclusion of Hump Day than with dollar domestic bottles and the best nachos in Towson. The Rec Room features music and a dance floor for those with rhythm and sports fans can keep an eye on their favorite team while knocking some balls around in the poolroom. Plus with drink specials on most nights the Rec Room is a great place no matter what day it is. Drink responsibly and I’ll see you out there. NTE: The next installment of “Dear Matty” will run in the Nov. 12th edition of The Towerlight.
