Immigration issue could make or break presidential candidates
Christian Science Monitor – Nov 19, 2007
“But if you start out by saying ‘Should we create a path for citizenship for those that are here trying to build better lives for themselves and their families?’ Then that brings out the compassionate side of the American public. ” Since this is such an emotional hot-button issue voters can expect most of the main presidential candidates to stick very close to their scripted positions ? and avoid getting entangled in specifics. “That’s the dance we’re going to see all the way through 2008″ says Tom Patterson a political analyst at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge Mass. “If a Democrat does get elected there will be a serious effort to come back to something that ironically won’t be too different from what President Bush proposed [in 2006].

Jimmy Kimmel Live – TV Decoder – Media & Television – New York…
nytimes.com – Nov 19, 2007
In the first national telecast of a live awards show since the beginning of the Hollywood writers’ strike Mr. Kimmel was notable mainly by his absence: after his opening remarks and a brief funny-dancing bit he did not reappear until 49 minutes into the show. He may have been glad for the break after the tepid reaction to the dance number in which he dragged the “American Idol” veterans Kellie Pickler and Jordin Sparks onstage to do “the Soulja Boy dance”; it would have been hard for Ms. Sparks to look more uncomfortable.

Running out of Brazilians
Arkansas City Traveler – Nov 19, 2007
Coach Joanna Pryor hopes to have a gathering after Thanksgiving but before the girls leave for break. *** One thing missing this year was Cowley’s dance before its matches. Last year when the team had four Brazilians they had the dance. The Brazilians taught the dance and little song to the team and they used it as part of their pregame ritual. It was always entertaining.

Hot Hot Heat
Towerlight – Nov 19, 2007
The addition of guitarist Luke Paquin to the quartet happened immediately after the recording of “Elevator” so this is actually the first time he’s been involved in the songwriting process. His influence is heard in the harder less pop-based sound of the new album. However the sound remains largely dance-oriented with heavy emphasis on the drums and synthesizer riffs. One of the main highlights of the CD is the track “Harmonicas and Tambourines” which stands out due to the fact that it utilizes four different drum kits. According to Hot Hot Heat’s Web site it was the last song written for the album and is full of tricks like the drum layers. The lead vocalist for the band Steve Bays called the song “seedy and dark but pretty. Other tracks to look out for are “My Best Fiend” a conflicted tale of being in love when it may not be the best choice and “Good Day to Die” which sounds like a throwback to 1950′s-era rock and roll… This is easily their best album yet and is a great place to start for those people who have yet to listen to the band. There are rock tracks dance songs and ballads giving the band an appeal that similar-sounding bands (such as The Killers or Franz Ferdinand) can’t match. –Cari WoodThe HivesThe Black and White AlbumInterscopeThe Hives’ fourth studio album is the first one to break the half-hour mark (at a whopping 47:57). Since the Hives are so good at crafting short tight rock-the-hell-out songs there was some concern that this album would fall short of fans’ expectations. As it turns out there was nothing to worry about: this album still rocks-the-hell-out even if the songs aren’t all less than three minutes long anymore. That said it’s easy to tell that this is not simply “Tyrannosaurus Hives Part Two. ” The manic relentless speed of the last couple albums isn’t as pronounced and the Hives experiment with sound a little more.
