Get into gym shape without the gym dues
Seattle Times – Jan 2, 2008
And every little bit might just as well be a pretty good time. Dance with the masses: Or your friends at least. The point is who cares about stars and who cares about your couch? This is about you and that flash-dancing maniac you’ve kept locked away for too long now. Christine Haas a Herndon Va. -based personal trainer tells her clients to set up regular dance sessions with a partner or at a local dance school. Tango? Tap? Hip-hop? Belly dancing? There are classes for every style of dancing. And breaking a sweat at a nightclub works just as well Haas says… And breaking a sweat at a nightclub works just as well Haas says. But make sure you’re refueling with water instead of sugary cocktails. Take a coffee break: Does that sound beside the point? Not if your coffee break is four blocks away. Chances are you’re already taking time out of your workday for this kind of release probably with a reliable gossip buddy. Now get the gossip while you walk back and forth rather than while you sit and stir. It might not seem like much but it’ll definitely work against the calories in that creamer. Have a kid: OK don’t have a kid.

Stateline’s new twist: Dance party on the street
Tahoe Daily Tribune – Jan 2, 2008
Eddy an East Bay resident said he initially set up by the Horizon Casino Resort but was asked to leave. No one complained when he moved his gear next to Harveys although he was told his equipment was his own responsibility. Law-enforcement personnel didn’t seem to mind the dance party either. “He hasn’t caused that big of a problem” said Douglas County Sheriff’s Capt. Keith Logan who noted the gathering wasn’t blocking law enforcement’s path through the area. As midnight approached Logan said the only trouble at the party had been one near-fight that was averted. Eddy’s dance party was just one part of the New Year’s celebration that stretched along Highway 50 from MontBleu and the Horizon to Harrah’s and Harveys all the way to the state line… So were the arrests which stood at about 20 as of midnight for the Nevada side of the state line mostly because of “intoxication-related” incidents. But scuffles and arguments seemed less prevalent than last year the sheriff said. And the lack of snow on the sides of the street prevented one unwelcome pastime: throwing snowballs or ice chunks at fellow revelers or attempts to break marquees with the projectiles. “All in all it’s a pretty orderly crowd” Pierini said. The total number of arrests for either the Nevada or California side of the state line was not available Tuesday. An El Dorado County Web site listed 19 bookings at the South Lake Tahoe jail from New Year’s Eve into New Year’s Day most appearing to be alcohol-related. It was not known how many of those arrests were made during the Stateline festivities.
DJ & models rock ramp dance floor
Calcutta Telegraph – Jan 2, 2008
Models from Mumbai and Calcutta especially flown in to flaunt expensive winter collections of leading brands burnt the ramp as they sashayed before the gathering. Even before the models could reach the green room DJs Afzal and Faizal took over and belted out rocking numbers. The guests in black and red took over the stage at Capitol Hill while the performers took a break. Even elderly couples could not stop themselves and gave in to the pulsating music. Ranchi Club also had geared up well for its members to have a memorable time. The club christened the event “Yadon Ki Baraat” Back To The Future and had put glowing lights spirally all along the entrance and pathway leading to the multipurpose hall. The open space in the club was decorated with a colourful canopy of satin and blue-violet balloons… The club christened the event “Yadon Ki Baraat” Back To The Future and had put glowing lights spirally all along the entrance and pathway leading to the multipurpose hall. The open space in the club was decorated with a colourful canopy of satin and blue-violet balloons. The club authorities for the first time created an artificial 1500sqft wooden dance floor to house all those who wanted to shake a leg. Track singers from Calcutta dressed in vibrant costumes mesmerised the audience and the dancers as they took turns to come and sing with the foot-romping crowd. The bar Madhushala was decked on one side of the huge space and was covered from all sides to make the enclosure cosy. “The show was great and the energy level of members made everyone forget the chill. As always the programme was a big hit and everyone enjoyed throughout.
