Exclusive: Ada Maynor and Christan Henderson dish on ‘Crowned’
Reality TV World – Jan 26, 2008
When it came time for talent we were petrified. Christan’s a great dancer she can break-dance do hip-hop. She was trying to show me some of that and I was like “Oh my gosh! I can’t move like that! I just can’t! My body won’t do it. ” So we ended up going with a slower song and we thought “Well the judges want to see a little confidence and a little sexy come out. ” Christan really thought — she loves the Pussycat Dolls and all that — we thought a little burlesque.

‘Move’ dances around tired plot
Roanoke Times – Jan 26, 2008
And this being an inspirational feel-good movie you can easily guess what happens (1) between Raya and Michelle (2) between Raya and Bishop the old boyfriend and (3) at Step Monster the Detroit dance-off. But that’s OK because in “How She Move” the story is just filler between the thrilling dance sequences. Descended from traditional African boot dancing step is a super-athletic and intricate blend of marching with tap break and stomp dancing. Crews are almost like families of gymnasts with really good rhythm. “How She Move” unfortunately spends no time explaining step or exploring its heritage. But the demonstrations are awesome. The actors are unknowns and probably were chosen more for their dancing abilities than their acting skills.

Tariq Ali rereads Anthony Powell’s A Dance to the Music of Time |…
Guardian Unlimited – Jan 26, 2008
We need to dispense with the blinkered view that his A Dance to the Music of Time is a novel sequence that can be enjoyed only by English “toffs” or readers of the Daily Telegraph. It’s a prejudice that has dogged Powell for far too long. What is on offer in the 12 novels that constitute the Dance (published between 1951 and 1975) is not the nuances of class snobbery but a reflection of the social history of five crucial decades of the last century beginning with the end of the first world war and ending with the turbulence of the 60s. There is nothing quite like it in English letters. Some years ago I encountered one of our leading literary critics at a party and the following conversation took place:”What do you think of the Dance?”"Oh you’ve read it?”"Yes I have… Powell’s early novels are witty and in his first fiction Afternoon Men (1931) one can see the seeds of the Dance. (The dialogue between Atwater and Lola at a sordid bohemian party is reminiscent of conversations with Gypsy in the masterwork and the style has the kind of minimalism that was later made a craft by Beckett and Pinter. ) The break comes not so much in subject matter but in the writing style which had become much more reflective. No doubt Powell’s immersion in Robert Burton’s Anatomy of Melancholy and the impact of working on a book on the 17th- century writer John Aubrey had s omething to do with it. We await Hilary Spurling’s biography to be further educated. By the time he came to write the Dance Powell’s style had become almost antique baroque – and that lifted the comedy to a much higher level than one finds in the early novels.

People would get to see me in different looks and it’s also great money. ” For Narayani the sole reason she agreed to do Say Shava Shava was because she “really loves to sing”.
