Spears reportedly planning a world tour
MSNBC – Feb 12, 2008
She taught an hour-long dance class for six children Monday at Millennium People reports. The kids ages 4 to 7 reportedly danced with Spears to Madonna classics “True Blue” “Material Girl” and “Holiday” before she had the class break out into a freestyle. “When Britney first arrived she went up to each child and asked them their name and whether they liked Madonna because that was the song they would be dancing to this evening” a studio insider said. It appears the kids at Millennium were more than thrilled to share the dance floor with Spears ? even if they didn’t know who the infamous pop star was.   More from Access Hollywood… She taught an hour-long dance class for six children Monday at Millennium People reports. Skins; Ross Kemp in Afghanistan
Times Online – Feb 12, 2008
Maxxie had developed a builder dad(nice cameo from Bill Bailey) who wanted him to be a builder not a dancer. This was the oldest father-son plot in the world with dialogue to matchincluding: “I love you too Dad. ” We spent too long in a noisy dance hallendured a fellatio joke as a mum helped to do up fumble-fingered Tony’sflies and listened to Michelle moon on about what might have been withTony. But who cares what I think? I refer you to E4. com where the nation’syouth will by now have had its say allowing the rest of us to marvel at thedizzying level of literacy it has achieved. Ross Kemp is proving the ultimate embedded correspondent in Ross Kemp inAfghanistan (Sky One). That’s good and bad… Ross Kemp is proving the ultimate embedded correspondent in Ross Kemp inAfghanistan (Sky One). That’s good and bad. Last night’s episode had himback in Helmand after a break during which three of the Royal AnglianRegiment had been killed by an American bomb. A journalist would have had ago at unravelling the cock-up and worked up some outrage. Instead Kempbought into the army euphemisms: a “blue-on-blue” incident “hard love”“the joys of war”. Yet he sees his job as giving voice to the squaddies and those he talked tofriends of the dead men were adamant that the press should not stir uptrouble for the US whose air support saves scores of British lives. Therewas no hiding their grief however.

A new Russian engagement
Hindu – Feb 12, 2008
“We are being villainised but you forget that it wasn’t Russia which used the atom bomb first. Forget the past even now Russian troops are not present in any part of the world… So a lot of the accusations are baseless” insist the media managers of the Russian Federation. New tie-ups It is to break this image of Russia that Rossiiskaya Gazeta has entered into tie-ups with leading dailies across the globe such as The Daily Telegraph in Britain and The Washington Post in the United States. On a monthly basis these publications bring out an eight-page supplement put together by Rossiiskaya Gazeta. For much of the world the insight into Russia is provided by Western media houses. This according to Russian media watchers is why Russia has not been able to break through the biases. Part of the much-talked-about chill in India-Russia links is also attributed to this; a fact acknowledged by officials of the Indian mission in Moscow… Part of the much-talked-about chill in India-Russia links is also attributed to this; a fact acknowledged by officials of the Indian mission in Moscow. Grigoryev “partly the problem lies in the fact that the West had hoped to make Russia dance to its tune after the collapse of the Soviet Union. We even did for a while during the humiliating 1990s. Putin changed that and made the Russian State more assertive in international fora. You had 60 years to reform we have had less than 20. Till now we were busy putting our house in order; putting in place institutional mechanisms.

Mesa’s Utility First Responders Achieve Safety Milestone
EVLiving – Feb 12, 2008
Simply defined a lost-time accident is any injury or incident that results in an employee being off work. Easy to achieve you say? Not when you consider the hazards this team is presented with daily. When you dance the Hokey-pokey you put in the right hand or left foot. For the crews of Utility Services their daily dance includes their hands their face and their whole body. The hazards they encounter are significant blowing gas mains; isolating water main breaks; climbing on ladders and roofs; driving in City traffic; opening meter boxes with creepy crawly inhabitants; twisting and bending to lift equipment old appliances and metal meter box lids; exposure to potential natural gas leaks; water line breaks; and their fair share of irate customers. “I am especially proud to be the leader of a quality organization such as Utility Services” said Richard Ochoa utility service administrator. “There is a long tradition here in providing service to the citizens of Mesa and the secret to our success starts and ends with the people I work with… Dennis Martin a utility services specialist for 25 years who has trained nearly everyone else on the team and who is retiring at the end of February has his share of stories that have made his time at the City memorable. Martin recalls a situation where he responded to a major water main break when a diesel semi truck plunked into the crater in the street and submerged like a “Dunkin’ Donut. ” He secured the water main break thus preventing further damage to the truck. A second memorable incident involved a major high pressure gas main that ruptured and ignited a fire ball shooting flames more than 75 feet in the air. At this scene Dennis took on the role of a public safety official to protect life property and the environment. “I want to thank my team for looking out for me over the past 25 years” said Martin. “This a special team and I am proud to be a first responder with a group of people I can count on and who put each other first.

We slump in soft chairs outside. In this dip in the mountains away from light pollution the stars look as bright as traffic lights and the effect against the spectral white outlines of the mountain is magical. Why then did someone select the worst 1980s ballads and 1970s soft rock as a soundtrack when trippy dance music or something classical could have heightened the atmosphere? It’s nice to return from our romantic break with a new “our song”; odd that it should be Supertramp’s Bloody Well Right. After a sauna in which we stop shivering for the first time in hours it’s a bit of a wrench to go back inside but soon we’re wiggling into a two-man expedition-grade sleeping bag to bed on our ice platform. Something about cold on the face mountain air and silence makes for a perfect sleep though hopping down the corridor to the loo in the dead of night clad only in thermal undies is painfully cold. But all-in-all there’s something magic about sitting mitten in mitten freezing your bum off under the stars with the dulcet tones of Supertramp’s Roger Hodgson echoing over the peaks. – OBSERVER $(document)… We slump in soft chairs outside. Harvard Crimson – Feb 12, 2008
18:00: Two minutes left and BU can’t get anything started. A Harvard win is starting to look pretty inevitable. 15:02: Nice job by defender Cori Bassett who repels a BU fast break by staying in front of Terriers forward Jillian Kirchner and blocking a hard slap shot. 13:09: Kessler battles some more assaults by the Terriers offense finishing a couple of sequences sprawled on the ice but with the puck in her possession. 10:05: The Terriers miss three very good chances at finding the net and Harvard clears the puck to end the power play. 08:21: Penalty on Cahow. If there was ever a chance for the Terriers to close the gap this is it… Cahow now takes the national lead in power play goals with 10 on the season. Harvard 2 – BU 00:00: The teams are back on the ice and play is resuming. T-6 to 2nd Period: In the battle of the bands that’s going on right now it appeared that the BU was taking the lead with some jazzy zoot-suit era tunes and herky-jerky dance moves but now the Harvard University Band is pulling out all the stops busting out some Abba as Howie Mandel’s crew tries to recover. UPDATE: The BU band made a nice comeback. but Harvard’s finest musicians just established that they indeed “Got the Funk.

Well worth its wait

Looking like a doll inside an 8ft transparent “snow globe” full of emblematic objects Dight interspersedthe flouncing rose-between-the-teeth cabaret flamenco with sequences of expressive dance. A soundscore by Bruno Gallagher added another layer of truth tothat artistry. Dance was very well served in NRLA 2008. Japanese dance-maker Hiroaki Umeda moved as if electric currents were rippling through his limbs. Speed precision minute inflections of rhythm and angle – right down to his very fingertips in a thrilling mix of styles that ranged from hip-hop to the impressive slow-motion and stillness of Butoh. Held pauses were consummately deployed by Roy Peters and fellow performers Andreas Scharfenberg and Melih Gencboyaci in End of Story a foray into starts and stops that edged the trio’s interactions into a more profound reflection on how we interpret or recognise finality in action. Like Umeda these dancers riveted your attention because of their controlled physicality… 12 Shooters saw her “captured” by 12 different film-makers in various modes: performing spending time with family or friends reminiscing just being Marcia essentially which is to say full of valour and foibles that can make us chortle and yet be deeply touched. The woman is a tonic and those who know her nd her work love her garrulous life-affirming spirit. Which brings me to my moment of personal heart-break and Sheila Ghelani’s beguiling Covet Me CareFor Me. Yes I coveted one of her hand-crafted objects; yes I took a hammer to the glass heart that held it and now I care for the contents: they are a tangible memento of Ghelani’s compassionate celebration of “mongrels” be theymixed in race like her or a mixof materials like the wee be-ribboned fob-watch ticking inside heart No 122. I’ll keep it wound and polished ready for queuing at NRLA 2009. © All rights reserved. Reproduction in whole or in part without.
