Their first-ever Spit the Truth”event will be an all-ages “night of skills” featuring freestyle rap and break dance competitions plus the stylings of DJ Echo DaFunk. As Rivera told his own story with hip-hop there was no doubt about its effect on him. It all began when he was 13 he said and his 16-year-old cousin introduced him to the likes of Pharcyde De La Sol and A Tribe Called Quest. The groups’ rifts and lyrics sometimes fresh sometimes recycled touched a creative part of Rivera then.

I find when performing that I need to have a well-rounded meal every night. If not I wake up hungry or I get shaky the next day because my muscles were not able to rebuild properly. Rebekah: How did you get your start in ballet? Tell us about dancing for PNB! (Bonus fangirl points for telling us about dancing the Peacock in “Nutcracker. “) Kari: I started dancing creative movement in North Carolina at the age of 3 but I did not actually start dancing at a legitimate ballet school until we moved to Virginia when I was 7 years old. When I was 15 I moved to New York City to dance at the School of American Ballet for three years. There I finished high school and refined my ballet training. Then in 2000 I moved to Seattle to join the professional division of the Pacific Northwest Ballet… However this has probably happened three or four times in our whole six-year relationship! I am an early riser so generally I will write a recipe or decide to make a Donna Hay recipe the morning of. Then I will make a list and go grocery shopping for the ingredients whenever I have a chance during the day. Sometimes I shop before I go to work other times it is on my lunch break (but I have forgotten the groceries at the ballet studio) but mostly it is right before I get home. Whole Foods is one block away from my house so getting groceries is the epitome of convenience. Depending on how taxing my performance work is I generally plan a few meals on the weekends for the week to come. For example I made a ricotta and spinach cannelloni for dinner on Monday night. I had some leftovers so I put a portion of it in the freezer.

It is designed to teach young boys and girls essential coping and social skills many are missing as they grow into adolescence. Pipkin was inspired by the documentary “Mad-Hot Ballroom” and the movie “Take the Lead” — both based on the work of Pierre Dulaine a world famous dance instructor who introduced ballroom dancing into the New York City school system. While learning the dance skills students develop mutual respect and trust of others social awareness confidence in themselves and it builds their self esteem Pipkin said. “When you put two people together in a dance position trust is a huge issue” Pipkin said. “I’ve had principles and parents tell me the kids are politer after attending our program how bullying has been reduced and students who used to hate each other are now helping each other. ”Life Change Ballroom has in-school and after-school programs where students learn different dance steps including promenade fall-a-ways cross-body leads and underarm turns. Squires joined the organization after attending a meeting with his wife a friend of Pipkin’s… This opportunity provided me with a great outlet to give back. ”When Squires and Shafer meet with the students for dance class they come in uniform bringing a strong positive male role model to the young boys they work with Squires said. “I hope that we are helping to break down stereotypes. We’re teaching these kids to be men for some of them the only male role model they have is the rapper on television” Squires said. Squires said the only drawback is there are not enough volunteers to maintain contact with the students. Even with the limited time the instructors have with the students they make time to help the teachers and students with any problems they may have.

The TV guide listing for TRL revealed: "We're going to snitch a look at Break the Ice the next music video from a way-under-the-radar performer by the name of Britney Spears. "Britney has been training at Los Angeles' Millennium Dance Complex in preparation for the video shoot. Mother-of-two Britney is determined to get her career back on track and is reportedly planning a world tour to showcase her new material.
