Profound and perfect

Vasundhara Doraswamy of Mysore unveiled her capabilities and powerfully communicated a fully ripened bhava rasa raga and tala in her solo presentation which turned out to be an enviable finale to the third Drishti dance festival held at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. Belying her age her dance was vibrant vivacious and vigorous. Her commitment and concern for the dance got reflected in the opening Subrahmanya kauthuvam. She had her postural framework worked out but without the stuffing to give the dance a conviction. Undeterred by a few misses in the music support she elaborated the attributes of Lord Krishna on the basis of a ragamalika varna “Sri Krishna Kamalanatho”. Her nritta nrithya and abhinaya were profound and perfect.

But if you are a bear who was unlucky to have been caught by a gypsy you dance not out of happiness but just to avoid pain. Dancing bears have been a familiar sight in our streets for centuries. Pretty soon he might even break out his victory dance. “After we win sometimes I crank out a pretty good little dance party” Armstrong said. “You can’t just jump into that. But you could see he was warming up. With Armstrong and Christensen there are now six former Penguins on the roster and all of them talk about what Armstrong brings to the dressing room.

Will the Jayhawks hold court in the Phog?
ESPN – Feb 29, 2008
If they lose here they’d be 7-9 in the Pac-10 heading to the Oregon schools for the final weekend. If they can’t get it done at McArthur Court end up 8-10 and then lose in the Pac-10 quarters is it possible the Cats — even with the No. 1 strength of schedule in the land — could miss the dance? Hmmm… Clemson at Maryland (Sunday 7:30 ET)This could be the road win that more or less puts the Tigers into the field of 65 but it’s a game that Maryland needs very very badly at home after the back-to-back losses to Miami and Virginia Tech. As long as the Tigers can finish in the league’s top four they stand a very good chance of making the NCAAs. Player To WatchDominic James MarquetteThe battle to rest in New York is almost as fierce as the battle to get to New York. Since the Big East expanded its tournament to include first-round games in 1983 only one team has won the championship without the benefit of a first-round bye. Gerry McNamara’s pixie dust led Syracuse to the unprecedented title two seasons ago.
