Hemet High girls overcome differences dance as team

But every afternoon in a room tucked in a corner at Hemet High School girls from different cliques get together for music dancing and what they call a sisterhood. The 37 girls make up the school's dance team. They traveled to Las Vegas over spring break to compete in the Sharps National Dance and Cheer Competition with 150 other schools and studios. The team was awarded Grand National Champions for overall high scores in performance. They also brought home first places in military poms dance drill high kick and third place in hip pop. Trophies won by this year's dance team occupied a corner of the team's practice room.

Work to keep yourself busy excitedand engaged by concentrating on different things. Keep your brainon the verge of overload and you’ll eventually increase your workcapacity and your sense of creativity. I once had a danceinstructor (unfortunately dancing wasn’t for me but that’sanother story) who over the course of five one-hour classes hadus attempt to learn the foxtrot swing and waltz. I suggested thatperhaps we’d become more competent if we focused on just one dance. She said that in her experience the combination of learning severaldifferent dances at the same time helped people to progress in eachdance more quickly. For me this means writing the body copyfirst… There’s no such thingas having too many great ideas. I can’t tell you how many timesI’ve seen work killed by a group of agency people who have decided”There’s just too much stuff. ” Give me a break and give the clientsome credit. " As the action shifts backward and forward in time the actors switch roles handing off costumes and props to each other while onstage. To further advance the production's avant-garde cred the performers break into silly dance routines every now and then with amplified sound effects.
