But we were equally intrigued by the arrival of Nintendo’s new $90 Balance Board and the accompanying Wii Fit program. She was looking for something that would add variety to her workout routine. She wanted a break from spending so much time with Denise Austin or Chris Freytag. I needed a break from Nico Belic and Grand Theft Auto IV. Wii Fit not only gets you up off the sofa it can give you a personalized plan for improving your health and physique. At least that’s what it promises. The program starts by assigning your real-world physical profile to your Mii the cartoon character that Wii users create to play Wii Sports and other games… In the yoga routines the Balance Board knows if you are balancing on the correct foot and if you have your arms or legs outstretched in the proper form. Your coach tells you if you’re doing it right or not. The initial aerobics routines are like the Dance Dance Revolution games challenging you to match footwork patterns as they scroll by on the screen. The strength exercises involve a lot of push-ups using the board. As you complete some of the exercises you get access to new ones. For a jog through the park you step off the Balance Board and run in place with the Wii’s controller in your pocket while your on-screen character smiles and waves to other joggers and tries not to stumble over running dogs. You’re pushed to keep a steady pace — not zip past the other joggers.

Bradford was 20 and working as a chaperone at the Boys amp; Girls Club the night of Aug. The Rainier Vista club had hosted a dance with another club from Skyway and tension between the crowds began to mount after it ended. According to court records at least four people called 911 to report the unruly crowd. Among the first officers to arrive was rookie patrolman Jacob Briskey according to court records. Bradford who was wearing a red “Staff” T-shirt and an ID badge on a lanyard around his neck said he was jogging toward a group where a confrontation was brewing when he heard someone yell “Freeze!”"He had no idea it was a police officer that was yelling at him” according to the lawsuit. It was Briskey who was yelling and when Bradford didn’t stop the then-24-year-old officer charged Bradford who said he spun around and held out his ID… It was Briskey who was yelling and when Bradford didn’t stop the then-24-year-old officer charged Bradford who said he spun around and held out his ID. Bradford in his lawsuit said the officer plowed into him hit him in the face with his forearm and knocked him to the ground. According to Bradford the officer repeatedly stated that he would “knock him the [expletive] out” if he tried to get back up and threatened to “break his [expletive] arm” if he resisted. Bradford was thrown over the hood of a patrol car and handcuffed. Briskey according to the lawsuit turned and asked a gathering crowd who was in charge of the dance. Several members of the crowd told the officer that Bradford was in charge. Even so Bradford was taken to the South Precinct where he was held and later transported to the King County Jail and booked on charges of resisting arrest and obstructing justice.

Keeping Tabs on Teen Drivers
ABC News – May 20, 2008
A high-tech surveillance system that allows parents to keep tabs on their teen drivers becomes more widely available starting later this week. If teenagers are driving too fast parents will get an instant text message. If they break the driving curfew that parents have set on the car an alert sent to mom and dad will make them the first to know.
