NBC Attacks Us with New Dancing Show

The show premiered the other night and was more spectacular than any of the previous dance shows. Because if there was one thing those other shows were missing it was flash and spectacle. The rest are so subtle with their sequined dresses and break-dancing acrobatics. “Superstars of Dance” had everything. Which might sound like an exaggeration but it was as if the producers feared that if the folks at home weren’t being absolutely dazzled into submission they would remember that they were grown-ups and didn’t need to watch the equivalent of a circus from their living rooms. The show pits a team of dancers from eight nations against each other so we can all decide who the best dancers in the world are. This is decided by a panel of judges one from each of the participating nations who have agreed to abstain from voting for their own nation.

Since December 29th 2008 and running all the way to March 29th 2009 Subway diners have a shot at one of six exclusive DDR-branded toy accessories offered with "Fresh Fit for Kids" meals. The current lineup of DDR goodies include a water bottle Action Armband Pencil Pal Disco Revolution Dancemania and Break-it-Down toys. No bonus console games unfortunately; surely you wouldn’t expect one for free with a submarine sandwich meal anyways. The meal even comes in a DDR-branded bag in case you forget what you were ordering. DDR already prides itself as one of many solutions to encourage fitness these days having been the point of focus of related studies and youth programs. Konami’s newest partnership in fast food obviously helps with exposure and maybe they’ll be able to get a beneficial message for their franchise across.

Dancers can enter to win $600 cash prizes in two categories — the one-on-one break dance competition and a one-one-one popping competition. Dancers of any age can compete in either competition. Joseph “Poppin Joe” Muniz who is organizing the competition with Valerie “Val-D” de la Rosa said the competition is geared toward youth who may need a positive outlet for their creativity. “A lot of youth get into it” he said. “They don’t really have a lot of outlets or places to go where they can relieve their stress.
