Students break ‘Thriller’ dance record

Dua also was inspired by Thrill the World an event held each ctober in which groups of “Thriller” fans gather around the world to recreate the 1983 video a horror-film spoof featuring Jackson dancing among a troupe of zombies. Last year’s event included more than 4100 dancers in 10 nations according to the Thrill the World event Web site. Dua recruited about nine friends to serve as trainers and to lead participants in the 6-minute dance routine. The event was thoroughly documented to Guinness specifications including numerous still photos and video from multiple angles so “they were officially able to examine whether everyone was performing the entire dance routine correctly. “Except for the group leaders all dancers learned their steps in about two hours Dua said. Dua an Alexandria Virginia native who is graduating this weekend with a history degree said the best part of the event was that it gave a diverse group of people — most of them weren’t even born when “Thriller” debuted — the opportunity to share an experience and have some fun.

“Boise capitalized quickly as Tharp threw a 7-yard TD to Casey Allen opening the floodgates as Rabb hauled in a 1-handed 8-yard TD catch then Flowers made a 5-yard scoring catch for a 28-7 lead. Leading 34-14 at halftime Boise took the second half kickoff and two plays later Flowers ran in a pitch from 13 yards out for a commanding 42-14 edge. It was so much fun for the Burn Flowers teamed up with Wilson and fullback Damian Walker for a little celebratory line-dance at the goal-line after the score. The Fever tried to make a game of it as Porter hit Chase Reed with a 23-yard touchdown then Jamie Hattley picked off Tharp giving the Fever first-and-goal from the Burn 9. Four plays later the Fever missed a 24-yard field goal and Boise iced the win midway through the third with a Tharp to Rabb 44-yard TD for a 49-21 score. Rabb finished with five TDs in the win including a muffed kick-off recovery early in the fourth. “It was my coming out party” said the former Boise State star who had four TDs on season prior to Saturday.
