com feat from Cie Accrorap is no exception. After Bandung and Surabaya the Lyon-based hip-hop group ended its national tour to much applause from Jakarta audiences. In Graha Bakti Budaya some famous break-dance moves like head spins 1990 windmill and helicopter are predictably well received but it’s Cie Accrorap’s own whimsical choreography that’s most deserving of thundering applause. A performer blew up a real balloon while others mimicked being inflated promptly going limp when the air in the balloon was released. Then they’re jumping on and off the couch as if it were a trampoline followed by a solo number in sync with the sound of the violin on the background. The witty composition blended with strong music and typical French humor was a true reminder why this piece was awarded Prix Mimos in 2008 Festival international du mime de P*rigueux. Lead by Kader Attou Cie Accrorap ingeniously knows how to use ordinary objects to add fun and spice to the performance.
