By Matt FlegenheimerInquirer Staff Writer A few plaster and porcelain sculptures still line the shelves of Jerry Klein’s South Street studio apartment – an owl a goat a naked woman or six. But Klein’s volumes of art-history books are stacked in paper bags near the kitchen. His drawings and supplies are similarly exiled to a back room. It’s for the best though.

The Skinny
There my tights really flourished. After a year of narcissistic posing – not by me of course – and trying to stretch myself in ways I really shouldn’t have I returned to the freelance scene. Since then I’ve been lucky enough to land a few dance jobs with some interesting choreographers. I’ve created works with my breakdance crew Random Aspekts and a duo called Cypher Dance. I now find myself a successful recipient of a Scottish Arts Council Creative Development Award with which I have been able to produce this piece and am now flying solo. And how does breakin’ fit into your choreography? Whenever I have created movement with hip hop as its basis I assimilate and present it in a mature and intelligent manner. Breaking popping locking and so on is for me often eye candy.

The other news recently released about the new season is how the producers are working towards (hopefully) cutting down on the injuries that many of the participants have been suffering in recent cycles. During the first two weeks of training the couples can only train for five hours a day and every two hours they must take a 30 minute break. Seeing as how my job can lead to injury and possibly certain death I think I’m going to go ask my boss to implement these safety measures at work. r at least get some better coffee. Check back for the list of stars along with their dance partners over the next week or so. nce I know you’ll know along with my blind final three picks.

“I never thought I’d be giving an acceptance speech at the Kodak” Jeanine said “but thank you Academy!” n “America’s Got Talent” it was the first week this season in which the viewers voted on who would be eliminated. Before the performances the judges received an urgent-sounding call from producer Simon Cowell saying that he wanted them to reconsider eight acts they had already eliminated. Unfortunately neither of the two wild-card acts that performed on Tuesday night—the Diva League a female-impersonator dance troupe from Washington D. and Lake Houston Dance a group of teen and tween dancers from Houston—survived when the the viewers’ votes were announced on Wednesday. The five winners were Acrodunk a group of basketball-shooting tumblers Drew Thomas Magic the drawling country singer Kevin Skinner the naughty comedian Grandma Lee and the young dancer (and pianist?) Arcadian Broad who beat out the teenage singer Thia Megia in the judges’ fifth-vs.

Mentioning that Quest Crew was not a real b-boy crew in their intro did not automatically endear them to the crowd but their tricks were good and they had energy from beginning to end. Comparable to any of the past champions? Not yet but who knows how they'll progress. If one member could go from leg braces to break dancing they have a shot.
