What we are trying to do is take that interest to the next level by teaching the skills and techniques which make street dance and breakdancing such an exciting area of performance art. By embracing street culture this project will benefit those who take part and the wider community because it offers a positive outlet for youthful energy and enthusiasm.

There my tights really flourished. After a year of narcissistic posing – not by me of course – and trying to stretch myself in ways I really shouldn’t have I returned to the freelance scene. Since then I’ve been lucky enough to land a few dance jobs with some interesting choreographers. I’ve created works with my breakdance crew Random Aspekts and a duo called Cypher Dance. I now find myself a successful recipient of a Scottish Arts Council Creative Development Award with which I have been able to produce this piece and am now flying solo. And how does breakin’ fit into your choreography? Whenever I have created movement with hip hop as its basis I assimilate and present it in a mature and intelligent manner. Breaking popping locking and so on is for me often eye candy.

She left New York City in 1969 in order to give birth to and raise her son in Japan according to Blank. Thereafter she returned to the United States numerous times to work on several projects with Robert Wilson among others.

Last night’s final performance show of season five on. I guess maybe I was thinking it would be as entertaining as season four’s final performance night which is why I feel a little let down. There have been many great personalities this season but compared to the personalities of last season’s top four — Twitch Joshua Katee and Courtney season five’s top four just don’t seem as vibrant or dynamic.

I think we have consensus on the fact that Cunningham revolutionized modern dance and that he was the greatest living choreographer. That the world recognizes the genius originality and importance of a beloved artist means a lot to us Merceophiles. Still coming to Cunningham from music I have been struck by how little has been said about Cunningham?s relationship to my art form and by a certain grudging credit accorded Cunningham?s collaborator and greatest artistic influence his companion and the music director of his company.
